1953 circa 14 Fret Oval hole #895

Soon after Jean Beuscher bought the remaining stock of Selmer instruments and parts, he set out to have build and finish some of the guitars he had purchased, in the various level of completion..Some of you might remember the Favino made bodies on Selmer necks.. this is an example of a Mahogany Selmer body but with someone else's neck..!!! the headstock sports the Selmer "brand", and the neck is made of mahogany instead of Walnut, and has the customary "grafted" headstock, but the profile is decidedly different than Selmer..more round..in the C shape, rather than the D shape the last recorded Selmer serial for an oval hole was #884 this one is #895.. leading to deduct that he might have carried on having the guitars serialized in continuation of the Selmer factory numbers..!! overall the guitar is in excellent condition.. it has a Selmer tailpiece, but SB tuners instead, and just one top crack repaired.. the sound and playability is outstanding.. internally it only has 4 Top braces, and the two little support bars under the bridge, are in fact four in this one. this thing is so rare...it's the only one i've ever seen...it is a really really special guitar.. NHSC SOLD

1950's 14 fret oval hole

this guitar was distributed by retail powerhouse Paul Beuscher, and is one of the many examples of instruments made by obscure crafstmen for the retail market. this particular guitar is almost a carbon copy of a Selmer.. it is obvious that attention was given to duplicate the original closely. the neck is a dead copy and the overall feel is spot on.the guitar got a recent makeoever with the installation of a set of DR tuners as well as a tailpiece. the entire guitar was gone over with a near transparent French polish. it is excellent playing and structural condition and the sound is bright and lively. NHSC SOLD

1950's 14 Fret Oval Hole

This guitar was made by David Enesa, a Spanish Luthier based in Paris, on behalf of retail powerhouse Paul Beuscher.. rosewood back and sides, solid european spruce top, mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard. slightly smaller body than the Selmer, with a "falling" cutaway. the top has a few top cracks repaired, and several scrapes that look like cracks but aren't. the sound is really impressive, the action is perfect, and it is quite rare... the only one I have ever seen. outfitted with a beautiful set of DR tuners and tailpiece. on the inside..a Paul Beuscher paper label, and the David Enesa "Marque au Fer". this is a really really really special guitar. NHSC SOLD

1950's SB Tuners

SOLD

early 1950's SB Tuners

this is a set of original "SB" tuners that were fitted on just about every vintage gypsy guitar at the time..the posts are drilled for double duty..slotted and solid headstock.. they turn backwards as they did at the time.. original knobs in good condition..for the "connaisseur"...with original mounting screws SOLD

1950's 14 fret Oval hole

"Grand Modele" 14 Fret Oval Hole, 675mm scale. this is an outstanding gypsy guitar by the elusive Luthier Bucolo. It is the first one I've ever had, consistent with black and white photographs of his instruments displayed at the "Foire de Paris" in 1947. The guitar has a "B" tailpiece that I have seen on other instruments. laminated Walnut back and sides, solid Spruce top, Walnut neck with a sandwich of maple in the middle, Ebony fingerboard, with long side inlays, SB tuners, and Dupont replacement bridge. The guitar has a paper label inside from the retail shop "Symphonia" where I used to go as a boy, on the Boulevard Magenta in Paris. It is an outstanding gypsy guitar with no issues, from one of the rarest provenance, with superb playability and sound. NHSC SOLD

1940's 14 fret Round Hole

Arturo Carbonell is a Spanish Luthier who set up shop in Marseille in the 1920's...Marcel Bianchi was his earliest known endorser, and his first model is largely inspired by the Maccaferri guitar. he continued building various models until probably the early 50's..this particular model is 100% original with a round hole solid shaded spruce top.SB tuners that turn backwards, laminated mahogany back and sides, rosewood neck with a rosewood fingerboard..there is a near invisible top crack pro repaired (not were the top is darker..closer to the middle..like i said it is not easily visible) and a few dings and scrapes, but it is otherwise in very excellent condition. perfect action and playability, and excellent gypsy bark.. it also happens to be the only Carbonell i've ever had..they are indeed quite rare, and in this condition even more.. NHSC SOLD

NHSC SOLD

1960's 14 fret D hole

670mm scale, this guitar bears a Paul Beuscher label, and was build by Jacques Castellucia, at a time when many makers were "jobbing' their production to the larger retail houses. In 2000, a certain luthier R. Dallaine restored it and promptly added his label as well..60's 14 fret D hole are quite rare, and this example offers a perfect balance of sound, playability and price.. NHSC SOLD
